The goals of ASA are: to promote cultural exchange between the United States and the Nordic Countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden; to increase understanding of the Nordic peoples and societies among Americans; and to provide a forum where people interested in Scandinavia can meet and enjoy Nordic culture and activities.
ASA draws on the cultural, professional, educational and diplomatic resources of the National Capital area to provide ten stimulating monthly meetings - including a Christmas St. Lucia Festival. To view the Festival flyer, click here and scroll down to December and click where indicated “For printable flyer.”
ASA also publishes a monthly Newsletter with a listing of Nordic events and the activities of the various Nordic societies. In addition, ASA funds Grants/Scholarships for Scandinavian cultural programs and studies, and sponsors the Scandinavian Literature Group.
